LECTURES ON THE ANCIENT NEAR EAST

The last twenty-five years have seen steady progress in Ancient Near Eastern studies, with researchers making many discoveries. During this period, the California Museum of Ancient Art (CMAA) has regularly invited the most dynamic speakers to come to Los Angeles to lecture about their findings to museum members.

The CMAA is proud to present its list of audio recordings of past lectures. CMAA audio recordings bring the excitement of discovery and the wonder of learning right into your own home. Now you can hear directly from the brightest minds and foremost authorities on the history and archaeology of ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia and the Levant. There are 177 audio recordings available: 80 International Scholars Forum lectures and 19 major theme programs (totaling 97 additional recordings) including: "Invasion of the Sea Peoples and the End of the Bronze Age," "The Age of Akhenaten and Nefertiti," "Sumer the Dawn of Civilization," "Women of the Ancient World," "The Beginnings of Writing in the Ancient Near East," and "Religion in the Ancient World." You can get these lectures either through the mail on disk or as downloads in mp3 audio format or mp4 video format.

The recordings on disk are available on 80 minute audio CDs (technically compressed when necessary), containing the entire lecture and most or all of the question-and-answer period, as moderated by Jerome Berman, Museum Director. Audio compact discs cost $19.95. There is a sale price of $16.95 per lecture on orders of five (5) or more audio CDs. The twenty-six (26) most recent lectures can also be ordered on video DVD for $24.95 each. There is a sale price of $21.95 per lecture on orders of four (4) or more video DVDs. Shipping by media mail is $7.00 for 1-4 CDs/DVDs, $9.50 for 5-10 CDs/DVDs and $14.00 for 11 or more CDs/DVDs. Priority and air mail shipping is available but is calculated on a per order basis. Only California residents are charged 9.50% sales tax.

The recordings by download cost less -- $14.95 for an audio lecture or $19.95 for a video lecture. The mp3 audio or mp4 video files will come contained in a downloadable zip archive. You can listen to an mp3 file anywhere via your phone -- in the same way that you would listen to a music file. I will e-mail to you a download link. There are no shipping charges or sales tax charges for file downloads.
